Hey, I’m Aleah

Photographer, mama,
storyteller, middle child, & VHS-era kid.

And if *you* are also permanently wired/exhausted from the rollercoaster of motherhood…but wouldn’t give it up for the world?

Then we’re basically besties.

I work with the most amazing families who are just as obsessed about having photos that make them ugly cry (in the best way) as I am.

And just like the origin story of most mom-tographers, I’d owned a professional camera and had been interested in photography for many years.

But it wasn’t until my first child was born that I fell completely head over heels for photography (& my child), and before I knew it the idea of starting a business was blooming.

Yep, becoming a mom changed everything (not just my sleep schedule).

✨ Cue: going back in time music ✨

There I was, 41+5 weeks pregnant.

Dec 5th was my due date, but that day had come & gone with no sign of baby.

I had tried everything…walking, spicy foods, and pumping! But nothing worked.

Since it was the year-that-shall-not-be-named (okay it was 2020), I had to take a test before induction…and I vividly remember crying in the waiting room.

I felt a sense of mourning over the natural birth I had hoped for. I never imagined I’d be there, waiting for induction.

Eventually my contractions grew stronger, and finally, it was time. With every ounce of strength, I pushed.

Then, our baby boy was here, crying as he entered the world.

Holding him skin to skin for the first time, all the pain and fear melted away, replaced by overwhelming love.

The life-changing journey of becoming a mom is why I’m so passionate about moms being in photos with their babies. I hope that when they see their photos for the first time they’ll exhale and think “this is us”. They’ll feel seen.

My son is now 5 and my daughter is 2. And I’m still in love with taking photos.

Being a mom to a 3 year old & a 5 year old, who successfully keep me on my toes every day
Leaving tokens of love around the house for my husband to find (like putting obstacle courses on the stairs… which he seems to walk around every time.)
Cheering for the Steelers and Penn State (We Are!), like the loyal & proud football fan I am
Loving the outdoors & trips to the park with my kids (yes, really)
Dreaming about travelling. It’s always been a great love of mine, but it’s been a bit harder to do since having kids. I’m insanely excited to show them the world one day!
