What to Wear Guide for Spring Family Photo Outfits 2026

2026 Spring Family Photo Inspiration

For a light and airy feel to the photos, it’s best to focus on 1-3 colors (the more members of the family, the more colors you want to mix in) and mix them in with neutrals. It’s also great to mix in solids, patterns, and texture. Here are some examples of color palettes so you can see if any draw your eye. Also, consider what colors are in your home if you’re planning on adding framed photos to your home.

Here are few more tips for styling your family.

Consider Location When Choosing Colors

The first step is deciding on the location for your photo shoot. Will it be at a park? At a city center? Once you choose a place, you can start planning what everyone should wear. For instance, if you’re shooting outdoors in a heavily wooded area, consider having everyone wear more neutral colors that will pop against the background. Lighter colors contrast and photograph well against green spring grass (think of all the beautiful wedding photography photos you see in the spring with white dresses against spring florals – swoon)!

Moms, always choose your dress first. The upcoming portrait session will be the perfect opportunity to show off your spring style! Wear something classic and timeless.
