Hey there! I’m Aleah, mama, wife, and Indianapolis portrait photographer. My superpower is to freeze time on memories you want to cherish for years to come. If you’re looking for a family, newborn, baby, or Indianapolis maternity photographer for your next family photos session, you’re in the right place! I service Westfield, Noblesville, Carmel, Fishers, Zionsville, and the surrounding central Indiana areas. My style is natural and timeless.
When looking for a professional photographer, you may wonder how the portrait experience works. Today, I’m walking you through the process of a photo shoot and creating beautiful family photos from start to finish! Let’s dive in.
Step 1: Choose an Indianapolis Portrait Photographer and Get the Details
Choosing the right photographer for your portrait session is vital in ensuring a successful shoot. Start by researching, such as looking up reviews and scouring portrait photographers websites. Once you have found the photographer you like, contact them to discuss details. Collecting the necessary information will save everyone time and stress later, whether it be asking about their style or getting clear on where the session will take place.
When planning your portrait photography session, it’s essential to plan ahead of time of year. Spring and fall are popular times if you’re looking for outdoor portraits, and winter portraits may be better in a studio, depending on weather conditions and the age of your children. I assist you with deciding which type of session is right for you.
Once you’ve reviewed my portfolio and decided my photography style is what you’ve been dreaming of, fill out my contact form. From there, I’ll send you more information, including full investment details. From there, you will book a single session, secure a VIP membership, or schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation to ensure we are the ideal fit!
Step 2: Planning the Session
Once booked on my calendar, I’ll send you my session planning guide, including tips on makeup, styling, how to prepare for your session, and more. Also, complimentary with your session is to borrow a dress from my client closet to wear for your session. I know how stressful it is to choose outfits for a portrait session, so I work with you to take care of all these little details, so you can relax and enjoy the session! My dresses come from high-end boutiques such as Needle & Thread, Free People, Baltic Born, and more. We always select mom’s dress first, and then I’ll help you style the family around you. Styling my clients takes all the stress away from coordinating outfits to look the best on camera.
Step 3: Day of Your Portrait Session
On the day of your portrait session, the most important thing is to relax and have such a great time! Let me take care of the rest. I have many tricks to make multiple people to feel comfortable during the photo shoot. Additionally, if you have any special requirements for the shoot, communicate them ahead of time, so your photographer can document the imagery and atmosphere you desire. Finally, don’t forget to relax and be yourself – it’s a great way to ensure you have a successful photo shoot!
Step 4: After the Photography Session
After we’ve finished documenting your best moments, you can relax. Trust that we got beautiful portraits of you and your loved ones! From there, I’ll start backing up and editing your photos, which takes about two weeks to complete. I choose the best of the best images and hand-edit each photo to produce memories you’ll want to hang on your walls and hold in an album. Once the images are ready, you’ll receive an online gallery where you’ll choose to purchase digital images with print release or printed artwork. We can also schedule time together to discuss the best way to enjoy your family portraits. Whether you prefer to receive digital images or gorgeous fine art prints, you’ll be able to enjoy looking back on your portrait session anytime you’d like!
