As an Indianapolis family photographer, I’m always on the look out for the best spots with beautiful scenery and great lighting. From historical landmarks to scenic nature spots, these locations are sure to give your family sessions that wow factor.

Downtown Indianapolis Photoshoot Locations
1. White River State Park: With its beautiful gardens and scenic views of the city skyline, This nature park is a great place to take family photos. Be sure to bring your camera for this one! It’s also a short walk in downtown Indy to the Canal Walk.
2. The Indianapolis Museum of Art: If you’re looking for a more formal setting, the Indianapolis Museum of Art is perfect. This photo spot is sure to impress with its classical architecture and world-renowned art collection. You may spy an engagement shoot taking place while you’re there.
3. Holliday Park: Holliday Park is perfect for nature lovers in the Indianapolis area. With its lush forest and scenic view, these photo spots is absolutely stunning for family photos or engagement pictures.
4. The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis: The Children’s Museum makes for a fun and interactive photoshoot location. Be sure to bring your sense of adventure – and your camera! – for this one.


Northern Locations: Carmel & Westfield Indiana
5. The Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel: Many photo-worthy spots around the Palladium’s impressive architecture exist. The Palladium is a popular spot for Carmel family photographers to visit with their clients as it creates a great backdrop for photos.
6. Coxhall Gardens in Carmel, Indiana: Coxhall Gardens is one of the most popular photoshoot locations in Indianapolis. The nature park feature a diverse array of plant life, from manicured hedges to colorful flowers, and the beautiful grounds are well-maintained. In addition, Coxhall Gardens offers a variety of backdrop options, including a picturesque lake and hidden gems. As a result, it’s no wonder that so many photographers choose to hold their photo shoots here. It’s likely you’ll see an engagement session or senior session in one of the many places to shoot.

The landscaping is beautiful and well-maintained, making it the perfect place to document some nature shots. Photographers, keep in mind you need a photo permit to shoot at Hamilton County parks.
